Sumex: ELCA continues to strengthen its market position

2 May 2012

Created by an insurance company for insurance companies: with Zurich Switzerland opting for the Sumex suite, ELCA is continuing to strengthen its position on the market. The company is currently the clear market leader with a market share of over 50%.

Sumex, the invoice-checking suite developed by ELCA on behalf of Suva, is receiving ever-increasing recognition in the insurance sector. When looking for a suitable standard solution for processing documents and invoices relating to the costs of medical care, an ever-increasing number of insurance companies are turning to Sumex. Zurich Switzerland has also done the same after carrying out a detailed market evaluation.

The reasons for this immense popularity include the attractive price-performance ratio, the ease of integration and the quickly realisable return on investment (ROI). Using the Sumex suite results in savings with regard to the automatic processing of medical care invoices. The standard solution also meets the high expectations and requirements of the insurance industry. The modular and scalable solution is based on a modern architecture. It enables insurance companies to adapt to market conditions on an ongoing basis – and even to stay a step ahead. In Zurich's case, the start of production was in mid-April 2012.

The Sumex suite
Made by an insurance company for insurance companies, the Sumex suite is currently the clear market leader with a market share of over 50%. The standard solution replaces the manual process of checking invoices with automated electronic processes. The system brings flexibility to the electronic checking process and enables millions of francs to be saved every year, thereby reducing healthcare costs in Switzerland. All conventional medical care costs in Switzerland are supported by Sumex, both for inpatient and outpatient care. The latest module, Sumex DRG Expert, is also available as a web solution without the Sumex suite and is enjoying high demand on the market after the introduction of the new SwissDRG Tariff invoicing system.
