swisspor's Cloud Data Platform: A Strategic Move for Digital Transformation
In the process of digitalization of the company swisspor, the decision was made to move to the cloud. To achieve synergy between systems and to unify data import and processing, swisspor decided to build a new cloud data platform. It was important to implement a good solution from the start to ensure scalability and integration of the platform, flexibility of data access, facility to connect, prepare, model and visualize data. Due to the lack of know-how in house to create such a cloud platform, swisspor needed support of a good partner who already had experience.
Transitioning swisspor to a Modern, Scalable Cloud Data Platform
swisspor selected ELCA to assist in creating a modern data analytics platform tailored for financial reporting, with Microsoft Dynamics 365 as the primary data source. ELCA has supported swisspor with work organization, planning, and providing expert recommendations on cloud setup, security, and role management. ELCA validated swisspor's technology choices (Snowflake and Power BI) and delivered a future-proof solution that meets the requirements while being easy to maintain. This included integrating DBT and Terraform scripts within Git to adopt an "as-code" approach, ensuring the platform is redeployable and maintainable.
Leveraging extensive expertise in data engineering and cloud migration, ELCA developed a modern cloud-based data analytics platform for swisspor. This platform seamlessly integrates with systems such as SharePoint, ERP, and Azure, offering flexibility and compatibility with various tools and data formats while ensuring scalability and cost efficiency. ELCA experts provided comprehensive, forward-thinking solutions that were complete, detailed, and well-planned for the future. Additionally, ELCA recommended strategies that minimize effort for ongoing development and maintenance, enhancing the platform’s sustainability and ease of management.
We particularly appreciated flexibility and responsiveness of the ELCA team, their creativity and professionalism in solving problems. The cooperation is very good with the project team and the overall pleasant atmosphere adds to success of the project.
